[simpleaffiliate source="chitika" results="0"][/simpleaffiliate] Should Norv Turner look into purchasing "How To Coach A Football Team for Dummies"?
No, Wade Phillips read that book and still got fired. LOL.
Norv and Wade: excellent coordinators; sub-par head coaches; in my opinion.

Players dribble to either move into open space, create goal scoring opportunities and to maintain possession of the ball. As a player it's important during you all soccer training sessions that you are continually learning and maintaining your dribbling skills. Ensuring that you have the ability to execute moves with both feet.
Developing the ability to be able to perform dummies and tricks with both feet gives the dribbler the gift of being unpredictable, a player that is able to use both feet has the potential to beat a defender to either the left or the right. Being able to dribble and execute moves using both feet allows the attacker to dictate to the defender. Using both feet makes it hard for the defender to predict which way the attacker may go.
To succeed as an attacker against the defender 1V1, you must ensure that you approach the defender correctly. To beat a defender you must either put the defender off balance or make the defender over commit allowing you to go past the defender. It's important when dribbling at defenders that use your pace to your advantage, as the defender is often running backwards which makes it easier to you to change direction faster. It's important when dribbling at defenders that you create little angles that give you the advantage as the dribbler.
They are many tricks and dummies and attacker can use to either make the defender over commit or put the defender off balance. Such as the 360. To execute the 360, first, push the ball forward stop it with the sole of one foot while stepping past it, turn and drag the ball with the sole of the other foot continue turning all the way around and take the ball away from the defender. This move is extremely effective when the attackers touch is a little to be in a defender over commit thinking that he can win the ball before the attacker can. As you see the defender over commit perform the 360 allowing you to maintain possession of the ball and take that defender out of the game.
another move that allows an attacker to either keep the ball or beat a defender is the cut back (Cruyff turn). To perform the cut back either fake to shoot pass or cross the ball and in the one motion bring the ball back with the inside of the foot under the body. This move is extremely effective to making defenders over commit which allows you to dribble past the opposition. The move if performed correctly give the attacking player the necessary time and space to be able to pick out a team mate in a better position.
The secret to being a successful dribbler is consistently working hard to improve your technique and having the confidence in your own ability that you can beat any defender that you are confronted by. It's important when starting to learn new tricks and dummies that you take it slow and slowly build up the speed in which you perform the particular skill. The biggest letdown in most players when dribbling is a do not have enough confidence in their own ability that they will be the defender, they will often let the defender dictate the play and the dribbler will then slow down giving the advantage to the defender. When dribbling at a defender you must dribble at pace where it is comfortable to you to perform dummies but not to slow where it is not putting the defender back on his heels. Lastly it is important that you work hard in your soccer training to further enhance your skills.

Soccer Dribbling - 2 Secrets That Will Help Your Game
Dribbling can be used to to exploit free space, create goal scoring opportunities, create 2 on 1 situations and to retain possession when there are no passing options.
It's important that you are continually learning new skills and keep improving the skills you already have, effectively and efficiently with both feet.
It's Crucial that you develop the ability to execute moves using both feet, so you don't become predictable to defenders. When 1V1 with a defender, it should always be the attacker that dictates the play, never the defender. This done by running at defenders with the ball at pace, showing intent, being confident. Their are plenty of dummies or tricks that can fool defenders, either making them over commit or putting them off balance. A few that work exceptionally well are below:
1) The Fake Shot Or Cross
Done by bringing the leg back like you going to make a shot, cross or pass. But just before the obvious intention E.G shot. In the one motion, make a sweeping action, bringing the ball across the other side of your body with the inside of your foot. Robbin Van Persie for Arsenal does this particularly well.
Example: You receive the ball on the right edge of the 18 yard box in a position to cross. But you get your head up ready for the cross but there are none of your team mates in the box. Before you know it you are confronted by a defender. The ball is on your right leg, you bring your leg ready to cross the ball, as bring your leg forward at the last minute you drag the ball with the inside of your right foot over committing the defender, now you can either shoot or pass the ball to a team mate in better position.
2) The Step Over (The Scissors)
Take your right foot and swing it from behind the ball, first towards your left foot making a circle around the ball, after you made the circle then take the ball with the outside of left foot.
Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho have both accomplished techniques when performing this move. But in different ways Ronaldinho tries to sell the move as a fake move then C.Ronaldo. Ronaldo tries to go for speed. They both work for different reasons. All you have to do is find what is most comfortable for you to perform.
Putting Your Moves Into Practice.
You can spend hours o the training pitch perfecting your technique but it comes down to, can you execute these moves in the crunch time of game. I'm not saying don't practice these tricks by yourself, players should be doing that. What i am saying you need to practice these by yourself until you come to a stage where you feel comfortable and have the confidence these moves in game situations. Remember no one will criticize you for trying moves in the right, it's when you try moves in the wrong situations that managers don't like.

Coaching Youth Football - Fundraising & Team Budget
Late June and early July every year, our youth football team's coaches meet to discuss the upcoming pee wee football season. We discuss last season's wins and losses, returning players, play books, football clinics and the dreaded fundraising budget issues? Argh!
Just as important as all the other things in youth little league football, a team's fundraising capabilities can increase their chance of success on the playing field almost as important as their youth football play book. Having the right equipment is a huge benefit to any youth football team. Like my dad always said, "if you look good, you play good." But, it's not just about having the right uniforms but also practice equipment, like blocking dummies, practice vests, footballs, blocking sleds, first aid equipment, water jugs, ice and don't forget the helmet awards. Our young football players love them!
Coaches also need coaches shirts, hats, whistles and clinics and educational materials should also be budgeted into fundraising. Let's not forget the end of the year banquet and any extra football tournaments. Once you look at all these necessities, you can have a team fundraising budget anywhere between $1,500 and $15,000 depending on your tastes and needs. Well I should say wants. The $15k budget would be for a top Select youth football team. No, that's not a lot, go talk to your Select baseball and soccer parents. If you're a recreational football team, you might get away with a zero budget, but even then the coaches will probably spend $500 out of their own pockets to fund the team.
For the last few years, my youth football team's fundraising budget has been around $7,500. We have scrambled every year to make the budget and been lucky to meet our budget requirements. Here are a few fundraising ideas for your youth football team:
Sell a product like Candy or Cookies door to door
When selling door to door ask for donation if they do not buy product
Car Wash and pre-sale tickets in case it rains or they just don't show up
Team Dinner Night Percentage of Restaurant tickets
Applebees has a Team breakfast program
Casino Bus Trip - Percentage of each Passenger
Texas Hold'em Party
Ask Parent employeer Corp HR Departments - Community Service Programs / Donations / Sponsorships
Team Garage Sale
Sweepstakes for a donated item (Sports Autograph)
Sell Breakfast Burritos, Gatorades, Donuts at games
Pass Score Cup after each TD, parents put in $Dollar/TD
Sell Team game wear with a mark-up
Set up a PayPal donation account
Set up an Affiliate account on website, get % of sales from purchases
partner with local sporting goods store and get % of purchases from team
Our largest fundraisers were the Casino trips and Texas Hold'em parties. We were also able to get at least 3 sponsors that would donate $2k in cash. We would usually make $350 to $500 from a car wash and $300 from the Team Dinners / Breakfasts.
Don't worry if you can't raise thousands of dollars. The kids won't mind, but I know from experience, that if you plan and develop your fundraising budget, you can raise the money for your youth football team. Plan and prepare just like it was your Super Bowl. You will be glad you did.
Good Luck with your fundraisers!
