Cost Accounting For Dummies

My Printer Ink Costs Were Killing Me

When the personal computer fad exploded all over the world I was contemplating retirement. I decided that I would leave all that new fangled internet stuff to the next generation. Little did I know at the time, what was in store for me on my path in this life. I did indeed retire and sell my business and moved from the east side of Florida, to the west side where both my children had settled . My son is into the writing and proofing of computerised tax programs and my daughter is an optomitrist, both of them totally engulfed in the computer age. So I figured my wife and I had done our part for the new age generation.

As the computer explosion mushroomed and the laptop arrived my daughter was on one like a mother hen on a brood of chicks. Some weeks later she came knocking at my door, presenting me with her desk top computer which she had no use for anymore. With severe reservations I rearanged some furniture and let her set it up. She went on line and we set up my account. She showed me how to turn it on and off then said, "There you are, have fun." For a long time it was a table decoration staring at me every time I passed it.

Here in Florida those rare all day overcast drizzles do show up occasionally and being an out-doors kind of guy, I get the heebie-jeebies on a long rainy day. When I got up that morning I could tell it was going to be one of those days and by ten o'clock I was pacing the floors trying to find something to do. I was getting on my wife's nerves and she suggested I turn on the computer. I approached it like one might a stray dog, having no idea what I was in for. I punched the button and waited. In those days where I live, dial up was my only choice. I remembered how to check my email account and found that I had 2038 emails, many of them from my daughter asking, "Are you there yet?" I figured out how to delete them and began exploring. It wasn't as bad as I had envisioned. The next trip in town I bought "Windows for Dummies."

I just realized, that was over nine years ago. Now I've launched eight web sites and I write, publish, and print a monthly twelve page newsletter for my Knights of Columbus council as my contribution to the council operation, it takes a lot of ink. I purchased an HP all-in-one printer at first but it took too long to print twenty-four hundred pages each month. I finally bit the bullet and bought a 2025 HP color lazer jet printer. It works beautifully and I was very happy with the results. Then it ran out of ink in one of the color cartridges. I looked up the HP website and found the cartridge I needed. Up to that point I hadn't given the cost of ink a thought. Boy, was I in for a surprise. The printer takes four cartridges @ $120 each. I saved a few bucks and got free shipping by buying the whole set at once but that didn't help my budget very much. At first you could only buy ink from HP but that eventually changed and I found lower prices on line.

It's funny how one thing in life leads to another, then on to another, and another. There seems to be so many tragedies around the world anymore, or maybe the news just travels faster. Any way I see all these struggling families who have lost everything and wished I could do something to help at least some of them. I did pretty well in the business world but not so well that I could make much of an impact financially, which is my goal, for the time I have left on this spaceship we call earth.

One evening after watching the news report on another catastophy, I was deleting emails and one was about making money at home on line. I decidet to try to build a site and donate the commissions I receive, to organizations who are on the front lines helping those families. Maybe I could indeed help. I read the free information and found that for $37 a month, they would provide the software tools for me to build an online shopping site. In deciding what to sell, I returned to printer ink of which I've now had some experience.

With time on my hands I have built two websites to raise funds to help families in need. They are affiliate sites. People around the world can help with this endeavor simply by purchasing the Ink supplies they need to facilitate their printing works, without impacting their finances. I will distribute the commissions I receive from those purchases, to organizations who help families who have come on hard times. The amount of help this site can generate is unlimited as individuals and businesses find it. I do not have a large budget to publicize this project, but as more and more sales are generated, I will advertise aggressively to get this snowball on the downhill. Any promotional help from any source will be greatly appreciated by those we help. Comments about this idea will be greatly appreciated by me.

Gardening For Dummies - Flower Gardening

Flowers are an eternal part of our lives. Every one loves them. They are fragrant, look good and bring joy. These are some of the reasons why flower gardening has become so popular. It has also gained fancy because not only is it simple and inexpensive but also a lot of fun. You can choose flower gardening to decorate your yard, as a new hobby or may be even professionally.

A few things need to be worked out before you decide to start the actual gardening process. What type of flowers would you like to grow? Annuals - which need to be replanted annually as they live for only one season or perennials - that come back once the winter is gone? Another thing you need to know is what type of flowers will grow easily in your area and also how much sun they need.

Before you begin planting, you need to plan your garden. Think about the kind of look you would like to have. What colors you would like and also think about the color combinations and layouts. You could choose the style of garden you like for example, a "meadow look" where different heights, colors and range are mixed together or "stepping stone style" where the plants are arranged from the smallest to the tallest. Decide your style and choose your flowering plants accordingly.

You could source your flower seeds from a nursery or even choose and order from a catalog. Another option could be that you could buy the flower plants themselves and transplant them into you garden.

Once you have made all the decisions, prepare the garden soil and buy your flowers. You could then arrange them so as to get an idea of the look and also be certain that each one of them has sufficient space.

Planting a flower garden is fairly easy. When using seeds, you just need to intersperse them on the flower bed. If you have bought actual flowers, then you need to dig a hole big enough for it. You need to remove the flower from its container and put it right side up into the hole. Cover the hole with loose dirt and pat it down firmly. Water it.

If this was easy, maintaining the garden is even easier. Use a bag of fertilizers to give them a boost, preferably early in the spring. Remember to remove faded blooms and keep the flower plants watered. To save time in the next season, remove all debris and cover the garden with organic nutrients like compost or peat moss. Do turn the soil over and smoothen it after mixing in fertilizer. In case you have perennials be very careful and don't disturb their roots.

Flower gardening in three easy steps: decide what plants you want, plant them and then water, water and water some more. No wonder then that flower gardening is becoming very popular. It is an excellent outdoor activity and lets you discover your green thumb.

"Solar Cells For Dummies" Guide - Don’t Say You Didn’t Know !

If you've come across this page because you are searching for the facts on the "solar cells for dummies" guide, get ready to be "enlightened"! I will reveal the best techniques that will allow you to "plug" your home to a limitless source of free energy, and even…get paid for it. Are you skeptical? Do yourself a favor and devote a few minutes to this article.

Why should you have to deal with high electric bills when there is equipment readily available which will bring you free solar energy, easy to build, easy to install, and quick to provide benefits? If you're thinking it's probably unaffordable - it's not; it was considered an extravagance in the "dark ages" (a couple of years ago!), but times have changed.

How do i know all that? Some time ago, i was getting interested in solar energy and was doing web searches for the "solar cells for dummies" guide and i learned that tens of thousands of people from all across the nation and many other countries had found success with state-of-the-art green technology which turns ordinary sunlight into an abundant supply of electricity in no time. I checked into the topic further and i also found out that you can get up and running with a very minimal set-up expense we can all afford (who can't afford to save money?). At long last, we can all take advantage of a state-of-the-art technology which allows us to benefit from a free source of electricity for the rest of our lives.

Maybe you've just heard about the "solar cells for dummies" guide, and want to learn more, but be sure to double-check the exciting facts about it - not only will you benefit from an abundant, free energy supply, you can say good-bye to energy bills as the power company will no longer be required to supply electricity to your home. I also learned that it's a widespread practice to get compensated by your local utility company for all excess energy over and above what you require. Here's one more important thing to consider - with the use of solar power you'll be playing a very important role in keeping the planet livable for your children's children.

Robert Kiyosaki Success

Hello World,

David Hawkins at your service. R. Kiyosaki has insight on how the system is ran and gives general information you should know. There's a lot of interesting things about Robert Kiyosaki. First of all I would like to say that Robert Kiyosaki is one of the greatest entrepreneurs around. Hawaii is where Robert was born and raised. He attened the U.S Merchant Marine Academy and graduated in 1969. Robert also served in the Marine during Vietnam. He has accomplished plenty that people can learn from.Robert inspires people all over the world with his books. Here are a couple names of his books, Cash flow Quadrant, Rich dad's guide to investing, Rich kid- Smart kid. This book is a prime example on what people are reading. Why we want you to be rich a great book by him and also billionaire Donald Trump. So as you can see Robert is a very powerful and popular man. You may think, how did the top earner's do it. You'll have to go inside the mind of a great leader and find your inner-self. One example should do; there is an amazing cartoon video on Robert's Blog.

This video illustrates what's going on in today's world. It tells how and why the economy is the way that it is. You need to check the video out A.S.A.P. If you need a little motivation Robert Kiyosaki is your man. His blog breaks down the reason why gold has sky rocketed and the value of the dollar is dropping. Mr. Kiyosaki tells about the banking system and why investing in real estate and business are the key to wealth.
Don't get scared cause your in for the time of your life. Do you ever wonder how the top earners do it.You can't possibly get all of their strategies. I have a Big surprise and you'll love it. I have a system that will show you the "how to". You heard me right. MLSP shows you the ''how to'' dominate on the Internet. So instead of chasing your family and friends everyone will chase you. You will become the haunted instead of the hunter. Individuals will hunt you down. The #1 thing missing is a driver that really wants to go somewhere. Your right, it takes you, a true leader.

You need to stand up and be accounted for. As long as you don't have a learning dissability, bring what value you have to the table. Don't wait on the dummies to make a move, you are the leader. Don't be one of those followers waiting on a miracle or the lottery. Odds of winning are very low, let me tell you. If you are low in money, our system gives guidence on the best way to do things. Thinking about doing this part-time; MLSP is for anyone that consider their self a entrepheneur.. Our system MYLEADSYSTEMPRO gives you guidance on all levels of the business. Some things that will help you. These are the top five reasons MYLEADSYSTEMPRO was created. Let's count down #5 List Building, #4 Affiliate Marketing, #3 Residual income, #2 Cash flow, and #1 YOU. List building is a must when you consider building relationships. Affiliate marketing puts cash in your pocket so that you are able to collect fat residual checks. Residual income coming throughout your income streams, which leads you to your ultimate goal. You will need a system in place that will create a solid cash flow. You want to be able to take care of your family and yourself now. Lastly of all and is the key which is you. It will take you to be the supreme leader. You bringing value and creativity to the table. You want to become the hunted instead of the hunter. People will chase you verses you chasing them. I've learned this great quote from one of my mentors "you have to give without want, before you can have".Strong and powerful words. These words need to be embedded into your brain. If you are willing to put forth the effort that is needed, you shall meet your goals. Check out this system that will give you guidance on whatever challenge you are trying to succeed in.

Does Bonds re-signing with the Giants vindicate him?

Maybe Bonds did cheat (although there's no proof, but there is evidence to support both sides). Maybe he is simply a stupid human being for sticking around. But would the Giants have agreed to re-sign him without KNOWING the truth about Bonds?

The Giants front office cannot possibly be completely full of dummies. They had to know that if Bonds is ever proven to be a cheater, and he breaks the home run record in their uniform, it will be a major PR blow to the franchise.

So, shouldn't the fact that the Giants agreed to sign him again tell us all that Bonds is legit, and his numbers are legit?
Game of Shadows has been discredited...the authors went to jail because they refused to reveal their sources. Usually when journalists do that it's because they made up big chunks of it.
To mr danger: The difference between this and Watergate is, Watergate was later proven to have happened. With Bonds, we have no proof, at least not yet.

theres no proof. barry is vindicated. if he was a fan fav everybody would say innocent until proven guilty. all the hypocrite fans r going to remember the night he breaks the homer record because they r going to be watching. they r gonna tell their granchildren about it. the giants r going to make so much money next year. great business move and great for baseball.

How do I cancel my real estate account without cancel my Yahoo account?

I just read from "home buying for dummies" that the condition of using Yahoo real estate account is rediculous. From my understanding, you essentially just have to buy from Prudential. Obviously I did not read the term of service carefully when I signed up. But from what I read in that book, it's like Prudential buys Ad space from Yahoo, and people who use the site to look up in their Ad will have to buy from them. I am not sure their terms (wishlist) is legal. Anyway, please help cancel my account with Yahoo real estate.

Dan Cai

I can only give you a partial answer as I am not that familiar with Yahoo "real estate" account. I HOPE you did not pay for anything upfront. If you did, that is HIGHLY suspect. I'm guessing you did not.

Now, trying to read between the lines, I'm guessing that you feel you are being forced to buy real estate through prudential. While I'm not a realtor, I would always recommend having a realtor represent me when purchasing or selling a home. In MOST TYPICAL situations the person SELLING the home pays both realtors (the one who is listing/selling and the one who brought the buyer). My GUESS is that, based on the agreement btwn Yahoo and Prudential, Prudential will be representing you the buyer. Keep in mind that you do not pay them. Now, you may say to yourself, if the person selling has to pay them, they'll just charge you more. While that may happen occasionally, that is the exception rather than the rule.

If you are serious about buying a home, go and interview several realtors to see who can help you. My recommendation would be to find someone local who has been a realtor for more than 2 weeks and someone who listens to you but also educates you on the process.

Best of luck,

Joe...

Woodworking For Dummies

[simpleaffiliate source="chitika" results="0"][/simpleaffiliate]

How To Make A Great Shed In 10 Easy Steps

So you require a storage shed to keep your outdoor belongings protected in good order. You have looked around to see what's available, but you can not seem to find one that fits your needs. Well, that's no biggie.

You can make one yourself ,even if you're not a woodworker. All that is required is ,for you to follow some fast and simple step by step plans, and you will have it built in no time whatsoever.

Step 1 You need to start to determine where you want to make it. You need to have a designated surface area planned out before you start. What area you have free will determine the maximum size you can build it.

Step 2 Once you know your exact size it's a great idea to make an undetailed sketch of what you actually want. There are many home improvement stores that you can take your drawing to. They will draft up your storage-shed plans for you, in accordance to your specs. They will supply you also with a listing of materials that you will need. So now you have your blueprint. Additionally they will supply you with a guidebook on how to perform each individual step.

Step 3 Purchase the materials you will need as listed in your design. It's a smart idea to have all materials at hand so you don't have to keep running out for additional supplies once you start the actual construction.

Step 4 Now you are ready to set off. Level off your ground and make preparations to lay the groundwork. You would have already chosen whether you are going to have a wood board base or concrete slab type.

Step 5 Next  come the side walls. Put your materials separate that you use for this. It is better to make the walls on the ground then to raise them into position once they are built. Simply follow your guidebook for the 4-dummies operating instructions.

Step 6 Time to start working on your roof. You will want to make your trusses. So manufacture one and then use it as a model for the ones that are next. Once again  follow your template on how to make the trusses.

Step 7 The construction should now be taking on some shape. Now the time has come to build the other walls. How you do that will  depend on what you have chosen in your plans. Be certain to stay with your originally chosen plan.

Step 8 Now you are getting down to the final steps. The trimming is just as critical as the rest of the structure. Its' what gives it the smooth look so don't scrimp here.

Step 9 The last two tasks are attaching the shingles on the roof then coat the wood. The wood demands some type of preserving coating on it to protect it from the elements and rot. It could be varnish or paints, whatever you want.

Step 10  You're done! All that's left is to relax and gasp in admiration on the finished shed. If you had not assembled it yourself you would think it was done by a pro.

Reverse Mortgages For Dummies

Reverse Mortgage For Dummy - How Reverse Mortgage Affects Surviving Members of the Family

In order to provide financial assistance to senior citizens having to live on pension and whatever savings they may have stashed away, the US government had introduced reverse mortgage plans which would allow senior citizens to liquidate the value of their home equity and utilize this as an additional source of funds.  Since a reverse mortgage awards the funds based on the amount of the home equity, the senior citizen is not required to repay the reverse mortgage taken out unless the borrower sells the property and moves out of the home.  But what if the borrower dies and there is an existing reverse mortgage that has been taken out on the home?

Reverse mortgages have been offered in order to provide sufficient funding to senior citizens in order to live their remaining years in comfort.  How the death of the borrower who had taken out a reverse mortgage on the home would greatly depend on the surviving family he or she has left behind.  If the borrower is married and his or her spouse is still living, then the reverse mortgage would not need to still be repaid since the reverse mortgage has been structured in such a way that the spouse of the borrower becomes a co-borrower.  When the borrower passes away, the co-borrower becomes the principal borrower and the same terms and conditions with regards to the reverse mortgage that has been taken out.

The situation is different when both the borrower and the spouse pass away.  Since the ownership of the home will now have to be changed and transferred to the beneficiary or beneficiaries, the reverse mortgage taken out on the equity value of the home would need to be repaid.  The beneficiary would be notified of this and the schedule of payments that would need to be made.  The beneficiary would then be given a year to repay the reverse mortgage in full with the corresponding interest that the borrower had agreed upon.

This may lead many heirs and surviving relatives to become frustrated since instead of inheriting some funds or assets that may be able to help them now, especially with the country having to face a financial crisis they have inherited a debt that now needs to be paid.  However, when looked into the benefits that have been provided by the reverse mortgage to the senior citizen and his spouse, this would make the surviving members of the family understand why the mortgage was taken out in the first place.

In order to avoid having to leave your family behind with any outstanding debt brought about by the reverse mortgage that you are planning to take out, it would be a good idea to first consult the advice of a lawyer or financial advisor.  He or she would be able to give you suggestions on the necessary precautions that you would need to take in order the mortgage you have taken out would not be passed on to your surviving family at the time of your demise.

For more information on how you can protect your surviving family from inheriting the burden of repaying the reverse mortgage you have taken out, you can visit any of the following websites.  After all, nothing could be more frustrating on the part of your surviving family than having to inherit a number of outstanding debts while having to go through the painful process of grieving as a result of your passing:

Search Engine Optimization for Dummies

Seo is Search Engine Optimization. A magician's bag of tricks to get your web page on high SERP (Search Engine Rank Placement ) and High PR (Page Rank). SERP is when you search on Google for a keyword. SEO is the art of getting your web page to be listed for as many keywords pertaining to your site on the first page of hundreds. Since people have short attention spans, they tend not to search ten pages of returns to find your page.

To get high SERP you can bid on keywords, through Google and other search engines you can bid on certain keywords. Every time someone clicks on my add in blue at the top and sides of Google pages (These are the auction listings, I will pay anywhere from .5 to $5 every time someone clicks on my site for the keywords I bid on. The one who bids the most gets to be on the first page for cats. The rest of Google is suppose to be based on scholarly research qualifications).

So you need to find a keyword that people actually look for but not too many people are bidding on. You got to niche your keyword. To find appropriate keywords you check your web logs to see what words people used in search engines to bring you to your site. Also their are online tools to use that suggest keywords and give a thesaurus of options along with how many times people searched for that keyword last month.

Robots are programs that scour the web following all the links on your page to each other and all the ones you list to other sites. They check to see you have good code and list your words for their directory so people can find any phrase you placed on your site. Now links to other sites within three pages of your home page toward the top of each page get better points than any deep in your site or toward the bottom of the page. Also they down score links if their is too many on a page.

To get your site index by robots you go to search engines and go to the bottom of the page and find a link called submit your URL. there you put your address in and hit return. Anywhere from 3 weeks to four months it could take a robot to find you for the first time. Then it will index you once a month unless in your pages code in meta tags you tell it to visit every day if you like. Also it is good to submit URL on search engines every time you change your home page. More times you change your home page the better for points

Now to get links is a tedious process of sending out hundreds of emails with a friendly greeting, Your site title with appropriate keyword placement in it, and site description. For their listing you, you give them a reciprocal link with their title and description on your link page. You can get people to link to you as an expert through natural linking. You can do the same for them. But if you get a link without giving one, it equals you higher points. Which in turn give you higher SERP. Other way to get natural links is to create something buzz worthy or give free tools.

Last but not least are RSS, Blogs, Newsletters, and Article submission. RSS is real Simple Syndication. It is a poor mans AP wire service. People have attachments to their browsers called aggregators that read this peculiar code. It can also have placement on your web page. Say you can have a feed from the latest news updated daily by the New York Times which helps keep fresh content on your site to get points. Or you can have people list your articles on their site giving you links back to your site. Then we have Blogs. If you blog you will put a link back to your other page. When this gets higher PR so does your other site. Also it is something else to attract clients to you in another arena. Also every time you comment on a board or blog, make sure you link back to your site in your signature. All post tend to be indexed by robots. If they find your link they come back to your page and give you points. Then newsletters you create will do the same. Links from emails count too. If you click on the links above, you will give points to that web site. But mostly newsletters are marketing to gather sales and inform the public on your product. Then we have article submission. By submitting articles to directories, they get published by other web sites and provide links back to your site.

Loan Modification For Dummies

[simpleaffiliate source="chitika" results="0"][/simpleaffiliate]

help with home loan modification?

I asked...if i am on a home loan modification & only have 1 more month to go will acquiring a part time job mess things up?

Some dummy wrote as an answer about pay day loans info & tip.

that has nothing to do with my situation.

thanks for any help
Hi Tina

NO. Take the Job.

A loan modification is an extension of your mortgage contract. Its a Contract!
The lender is hoping your situation improves.

If what your asking is, I'm working at getting a loan modification? Which requires a hardship!
Then getting a part time job adds income, which improves your situation, and may improve your hardship.
How much your going to earn, would be considered in the loan modification application.

Keep in mind, loan modification information has to be updated every month until the final okay is granted.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Buying A House For Dummies

[simpleaffiliate source="chitika" results="0"][/simpleaffiliate]
buying a house for dummies
increasing property taxes on home?

i bought a house in 05 for 125 thous, did a lot of remodeling and last may had it reappraised and it came in at 207 thous, good right, anyhow on my proposed tax bill from the county it claims the prop was valued at 35 thous in 05, and has gone to 55 thous a 43 percent increase in 3 yrs, my questions are
1. why does it show the prop only worth 55 thous and not at least the purchase price of 125? if i am smart, i think this is a good thing right that i am only paying taxes on this small amount...rather than the real value of the house

2. so it probably wouldnt be wise to protest the increase on my taxes seeing how it could be alot worse, right, like the 207 thous dollar appraisal?
yes this is my 1st home so i am WAY new to all this stuff with taxes etc. so please remember to use "taxes for dummies" language, no 13 letter real estate words...lol

You are correct.....sshhh! While it might be frustrating it went up so much, don't fuss too much or they may come and adjust it up again!

Solar Power For Dummies

[simpleaffiliate source="chitika" results="0"][/simpleaffiliate]
solar power for dummies
Can a battery charger recharge several batteries in parallel at the same time?

I recently got a solar battery charger, that can recharge 4 AAA in 1 to 1.5 hours.
It can recharge AAA, AA, C, and D. (the bigger sizes take longer)
It is made so that only 4 at a time can go in it, not 1, 2, or 3. It has to be 4. 2 sets of 2 in series.
Is it possible that I could get or make dummy batteries, and run wires to more batteries, as long as the sizes and polarities are the same.
The idea is that if it can do 4 in 1 to 1.5, then it should be able to do 24 in 6 to 9.
I am asking because were I live, the power goes out a few times a year, and it can be out for anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. I have several battery powered LED lights that take 3 AAA batteries, but batteries go dead after a while, so when the power is out for a week, they need to be recharged.

Your math is good. The 24 batteries in parallel should take about 9 hours to charge (if you were getting 4 to charge in 1.5 hours). There is no danger of overloading anything, because you are "trickle charging" the batteries.
