I am new to Adobe Illustrator. What is the easiest and fastest way to render a design that has been drawn?

I need rendering for dummies 101. : ) I basically want to be able to make the design look clean and perfected. PLEASE HELP!!!!

The method you use depends on the complexity of your artwork, but generally the pen tool is the easiest.
