Class A RV question(s)?

Greetings-

Looking into getting a Class A RV for our family. I am in PA, if that matters on any of these-->

-- Does one need to obtain a different class of license (example: Class C for most vehicles, Class M for motorcycle, etc.) in order to operate a Class A motorhome?

-- Do local RV dealers usually offer a "RV for Dummies"-type class for beginners to the lifestyle?

Thanks to any and all answers. We are not dead-set on this, but are currently researching.

you do not need a different license for any two axle vehicle which most motor homes are, I lived in and RV and traveled up and down the coasts of Northern california washington and oregon, And there is no class for dummys, the biggest problem right now for rv is the price of gas, If you plan on just going camping for the weekend, or taking a trip for a week at a time within say 300 miles of home, that's one thing, If your plan is too drive across country and see the beautiful united states from coast to coast, a gas motor home would kill you when the bill came in. A long extended trip you would need a diesel pusher, As far as any life style usually the free birds as we call them go north in the summer, and south towards southern california in the winter, just like the geese and ducks and birds. (well the rich ones go to florida in the winter. It is a good idea to tow a small car, you can use a tow dolly with a front wheel drive, or a small 4x4 with a transfer case that has a nuetral.this is a great way to park the coach and explore the local area, if you have to prepare the coach to travel everytime you forgot to get something from the store, a little car, comes in handy, because once you park and set up everything, it can be time consuming to undo it all just to make a short errand. If you plan on touring your neck of the woods, great, one thing that is important after many years on the road, is to have a large bathroom with a shower stall, a lot of older motor homes had terrible floor plans, that seemed like they were put together by someone who did not know what was good or worked well. and had tiny bathrooms, in spite of this I loved it, and had a lot of fun there is some beautiful country out there.
For every different rv you see, there is a different floor plan, also a motor home with one person in it is one thing, two or more people make anything small in a hurry, If you get serious about rving, full time, I would suggest a large coach, with a rear bed that has a slide out in the rear, and a bigger larger slide out in the living room, double door, one in the front, one in the rear is much better. Since there are so many floor plans, available, I would suggest going to an rv show, or a big dealer, and just start walking in and out of motor homes, until you see a floor plan you like the best, then start keeping an eye out for something similar, I will put you in my contacts list, feel free to sit down and make a list of questions you may have, since I lived in an rv for 12 years. hope this helps
