Building a computer for Dummies!!!?

I really want to learn how to build my own computer step by step and actually understand what I'm doing. I'm underage, so I can't use any paying courses. What websites are there that are worth using?
Oh and I do have an old Windows 2000 computer that I am allowed to use for parts. We also have a more recent but still slow Dell Laptop.

No it wont be very expensive, $500-$600 depending on low needs, I you want a nice gaming one its around 1 Grand!
TigerDirect will provide you with EVERY single thing you will need, except a brain.

Because you are a beginner I recommend you get a barebones system. A Core2 Duo Is the Way to go, make sure to get atleast 1G or Ram and 100Gb+ HardDrive.
If you got anymore questions just ask.
