i locked myself out of my administrative acount on my dell desk top that runs windows vista?

hello! i frogot my administrative password on my computer and now i can only get on as a standered user via my brothers acount. i need to get my admin acount back but dont have a password reset disk made. i did the whole run commanded prompt under administrator but it asks for the passowrd when i try and it says acsess denided or error five. i dont want to reset the whole computer because i have important files! how can i get back onto my computer in a fairly simple non expesnive way that a dummy like me could understand? THANKS
