Flatout 2: An Extreme driving experience Review

Many who have played the first, probably will be left slightly disappointed. Oh yes ... Their expectations by reading and seeing what was drawn on the cover is not exactly what one would expect. So the makers have thought to do a makeover of this game, creating the phenomenal adrenaline Flatout 2!

Here the game really takes facets really realistic, the cars are very realistic, the crashes as well, not to mention the speed of the graphics, really cool.

For those unfamiliar with this game, know that everything is focused in doing damage. The more you split the car rivals, the more you break the objects or fences or signs on the track, most NOS (Nitro) we get, the higher you get in the charts, the more money you win.

Before describing the game, I want to briefly give an overview of improvements made to the first version of FlatOut:

1) I am extremely improved backgrounds. In fact, the sky, the buildings, the Rocky Mountains, are all realistic and not leaked at all the elements of fiction that make you say, this is a game.

2) The realism of the game in general has greatly increased. First the speed of the graphics. A 100 km / h fast, the road runs to reach the car rival with more power of our car starts to become difficult.
Then when you insert the NOS, but the graphics are really really fast and the car behaves accordingly! While in the first Flatout with the NOS added driveability remains optimistic, this one has the feeling of being stuck to the asphalt! Also to amplify this effect was added a blur effect to the scenery around, very nice and realistic!

3) If the car cracked in the first, now smashed three times before! And then the first one cracked almost immediately and the machines were not reinforced as it's never too strong to control, while there it will go quietly without a route, the car is completely crushed, no bumpers or wheels wobbling.
And of course when the car starts to split very well fall performance: for example, do not swerve + as before, the doors do not close more, decreases the control of the car and top speed and acceleration are not the same. If, on the drop back to 210, after the race reached the 160 low.
All this helps to make this game realistic.

- The more you strike enemies with the car with nos attacked him off more energy, more and more money we get nos purchase after the race! If you are unable to impose the "total accident", that is to miss the machine only for what the opponent earn 2000CR (CR is the monetary unit of the game)

- Greatly simplifying the gameplay compared to the first, simple menus and instructions on how to deal with from time to time the races.

- 60 tracks on which to run against 36 of the previous chapter, many of you unlock in career mode and more beautiful. One of my favorites is a wild ride in the middle of a cemetery of airplanes crashing.

- The game is available for PC, but also for Xbox and PlayStation 2. I can not tell them at the price since I bought the PC version.

- You say, but how much does it cost? Surely an absurd figure! <--- And I say unto you, totally wrong! Today the first FlatOut is 5 € and the second to 9.90 euro. Figures ridiculous for 2 really great games that give you the freedom to do what you want and see the machines that break, and the tracks where we run in conditions worse than ever, thanks to us!

As for the infamous minimum ... Well now all or most people have computers and are able to satisfy them:

- Windows XP / Vista
- Pentium IV 1.5 Ghz, 256MB RAM
- Graphics Card 64MB
- 3.4 GB of free space on hard drive, as the game is a GAME PC DVD-ROM
- Of course, a DVD player and integrated sound card.

Compared to the first, the power requirements of processor RAM and video card are the same, but the graphics in this sequel makes the most of these minimum requirements. The second is also optimized for XP and the first runs on Windows 98 ME or 2000.

Finally a racing game where you run or in the city (without traffic) or off-road and 34 models are available between cars and pickups (16 in the previous models). Even the streets are hidden or "shortcuts" that sometimes appear on the map and sometimes not (as in the legendary game Sled Storm for Playstation 1, with snowmobiles). You can get inside the windows or glass or huts with Nitro attacked and another win in the meantime and breaking things and maybe give some nice blow to rival cars.

What struck me most is that compared to many other games where when you go to beat the machine remains intact and maybe show the "light damage" or "serious harm" as the last Need for Speed ProStreet, here is the first ailment then you start to lose the pieces then do not start to fall and keep more good overall performance. If you attack the nos often disbanded at the start and you go straight through the corners ... Then the engine starts to smoke and if any opponent you are on the Left Total risks.

How many times have we thought, what I want to do two spins and then go full throttle in the middle of the road ... Too bad that there are other cars and breaking my own and I also would also hurt ...

Not here! Here you can give free rein to your deepest desires. Take a good jump, most were in the air as you get and then make good use NOS to go against the first fool who incotrate in front of you an enemy!

The only flaws are the design of pupino (rubber ... pretty strange since the first was a realistic pupino) and the speed of the machines in the Dragster "Salton".
Not called that but I call them that way, so basically you have to take a run and press CTRL. The pupino splash out of the car and depending on the purpose of the race and get points, depending on where you place in the standings will win money.
To give you some examples: In one of these events you have to knock down the pins, in another bounce on water, in another pass through rings of fire, make another basket. These are just a few to give you an idea. Here, only counts in the standings that gives you money.

The career mode is long and not easy but ... hilarious. In career mode, there are mixed together with the race events, including events stunt I mentioned before and some special circuits.
What are they? Circuits are very short compared to the races, but have a twisted path where the road intersects, and then you risk a lot of bloated barrel side. In these circuits has mainly to do damage and win and eventually becomes the sum of money obtained.

You do not need to be first in every race, as in some games, but the important thing is to get in the top three at the end of the tournament and there, depending on where you will be awarded a cash prize, the release of special circuits or stunt events.

4 major tournaments, with many in shifts, each consisting of 3 to 6 races, each long race from 2 to 5 turns depending on the length of the runway.

I think you got a nice overview of this fantastic sequel to Flatout very suitable and valuable for all those who regret the timing of Demolition Derby for PlayStation ... And with a price like that and such great quality to have is a game and play it with pleasure. Oh yes .. because besides the beauty of the game in itself xp with no problems or compatibility issues or driver installations. That's if you really do I have to say ... both games are a bit slow on installing ... Require a few minutes but once installed it's all great.

The noises and sounds of the game work great and you change (a slight echo) when entering buildings or supermarkets to split everything. Compared with the first cars did not slow down too much they lose control when it clashes against the barrels or light poles or billboards, is greatly appreciated since the first game was praised for that but then was precisely the flaw.

Single bug found. Windows XP Professional (with original code, not cracked) the game once installed does not require the DVD in the drive, while all other versions of Windows Xp original or not, always requires the CD.

Or is obvious with the patch NO CD o. .. Do you give the game from your friend who has the professional, or play at the home of one of two with the original DVD.

Finally, a look at the soundtracks in the game that, unlike many others (and continued the "tradition" of the former), are reported for a few seconds in the top left corner. So we must not lose the soul to find the titles of those songs that we like.

* Nowhere Ride - The Chelsea Smiles
* Fall Victim - Alkaline Trio
* Blood Brothers - Papa Roach
* Road to Rouen - Supergrass
* Mercy Me - Alkaline Trio
* Believe it or Not - Nickelback
* Symphony of Destruction - Megadeth
* Rough Landing Holly - Yellowcard
* Breathing - Yellowcard
* Lobotomy for Dummies - Zebrahead
* Give it All - Rise Against
* Not Listening - Papa Roach
* Reinventing Your Exit - Underoath
* 7 Minutes in Heaven - Fall Out Boy
* Richard III - Supergrass
* Man or Animal - Audioslave
* Your Time Has Come - Audioslave
* Flat on the Floor - Nickelback
* Feel So Numb - Rob Zombie
* Dr. Feelgood - Mötley Crüe
* Demon Speeding - Rob Zombie
* Pyramid - Wolfmother
* Dimension - Wolfmother
* Snitchers, and Talkers Get Stitches and Walkers - Fall Out Boy
* Do not Listen to the Radio-The Vines

As we see the ubiquitous are: Rob Zombie ... is not that suits me but Demon Speeding and Feel so Numb are perfect for fighting; Nickelback, Papa Roach e. .. Megadeth Symphony of Destruction that appears occasionally in the initial menu ... There is just a brush, because you "charge" adequately. But the rest of Megadeth've never gone light:-D Just to say that another song was their cover of Black Sabbath Paranoid.

The Chelsea Smiles song I really like it, but adrenaline is ... is a super-group virtually unknown, even you do not find anywhere the lyrics of their songs ... Only someone who understands English can understand the text on the fly, but ... when it appears in the races I always get the volume of the game ;-)

Ultimately it is a really good game, which is not to buy for the first injury that obtained with the same requirements of standard gameplay and graphics are not really worthy of what is said.

Flatout 2 has been developed by Bugbear Entertainment and distributed by the summer of 2006 the Empire Interactive and Vivendi Universal Games.

Have fun and I hope I have convinced to buy it :-)

PS Take a look also to special content, or videos from the disc, some of which are introductory, they are really beautiful :-)
