Master-At-Arms for Dummies?

I'd like to go to A-School for this job, if you were one or know something resourceful relating to it...please let me know. Me and my fiance are expecting a baby girl. I've always wanted to work in Law Enforcement but I want a good idea on to what it is an MA does. How long is A-School, can you move up in rank relatively fast if requirments are met, on cruise what does the daily routine consist of? Many other questions....if you want to personally email me my yahoo is pittsjared@ymail.com. I appreciate any information regarding this submission.
P.S- If your thinking about telling me to go to a recruiter, my reply would be that they are full of shit. Been there done that with the Army

A school is in Lackland, TX lasting 40 calendar days. While at school you PT, do practical exersises, classroom instruction, weapon range and get oc sprayed. It's not very challenging, I had a pretty good time.

As far as moving up in rank, MA is the wrong rate to do it in right now. Mind you, the quotas change every cycle and the demands go up and down (more recently down). Best way to make rank is to get good evals and study hard for the test. The better you do, the more chance you have of making rank and if you don't make it, the more points you have to carry over to the next time you take it.

It's pretty tough to get a billet on a ship as an MA, since there aren't many on ships. Right now the demand for MA's is on shore duty overseas in places like GTMO, Bahrain and Deigo Garcia. Usually MA's stand 12 hour watches but sometimes you get lucky and go to a command that does 3 shifts of 8 hour rotations. Everywhere I have been has been 12 hr shifts though.

If you want to try for something a little more high speed, low drag shoot for riverines or Mobile Security. You'll get to travel a bit and get pretty good combat traning.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
