Idiots Guide To Plumbing

[simpleaffiliate source="chitika" results="0"][/simpleaffiliate]

My Sniflo is blocked? How can I fix it myself and am I allowed to turn it off?

I'm pretty sure my saniflo is blocked, water has risen and it keep turning on but not grinding every few minutes. it's the weekend so not sure when I will be able to get a plumber out. Is there something I can do myself?

Also is it ok to turn it off so it stops making the noise, or will this make the water level worse?

I need an idiots guide. Unfortunately the saniflo is positioned behind the toilet and within a casing so it's difficult to get to. Realistically how much space would I need to deal with this - or should I just hand over the money to a plumber?

Thank-you

You may want the guide. You're only getting the idiot.
If it were mine, I would turn it off - and see what happens. It's a motor... and it ought to start up again if unpleasant things start to happen. I believe the motor is controlled by the level of waste on the tank. It is possible that the float controlling the motor's on-off is hung up.
However, it is also possible that there is some sort of blockage beyond the grinder-pump and it is running because it is unable to empty itself... and, in that case, whatever has been pumped "up, up," but not "away" could flow back down and out.
While I would try turning it off to keep from having the motor burn out, I would ask myself how much farther to go. What can you do... what are you willing to do with even the simplest cause I can imagine - the hung-up float?
It DOES flow downhill and, if you're able, this might be a time to say, "I'm not doing this s---!
